Dear members, dancers, creators and others,

Here comes our DANCEnewsTANZnews for March!

 

The first Triangle Meeting, our exchange platform between the dance scenes of the regions of Basel, Freiburg/D and Strasbourg, will take place online. From March 25-28 there will be a daily two to three hour session. Registration: labormanifest12@gmail.com. Take note of the dates for the physical meeting in ROXY: September 9-12, 2021.

Also the Stammtisch Freie Szene (Roundtable for the freelance scene) is shifting to digital space. On March 1, fitting the theme of "Learning from the Lockdown" with the presentation of the like-wise named compendium of Impulse Theaterfestival. Please register for the Zoom link with the subject of "Anmeldung Lockdown" (Registration): buero@kaserne-basel.ch.

For Profitraining, there will be no in-studio classes until the end of March. The Monday classes will be streamed over Zoom however. Ballet classes will continue to take place in the studio, with a maximum of 5 participants. Advance registration is required. All lessons are streamed on Zoom.
 

Das Bureau Ouvert, (The Open Office) our consultation format for questions regarding productions, will also be taking take place in March - this time with Franziska Ruoss. It is free of charge for Tanzbüro members, and available only with registration: info@tanzbuero-basel.ch.


EVENTS AND PERFORMANCES

In the video series "Dialogues suprenants", (Surprising dialogues) Basel performers such as Johanna Heusser and Alessandro Schiatarella  explore and interact with sculptures and installations in the current exhibition at Kunsthaus Baselland. In cooperation with Kunsthaus Baselland, Theater Roxy and Basel Youth Theater. Every day there is a new video. HIER

 

Kaserne Basel digital: Mallika Taneja Allegedly, On March 7th at 16:00, Mallika Taneja will perform, live-streamed form India, as she invites her audience in digital space to a discussion around sexual violence. 


The Braswell Arts Center (BAC) will be presenting a virtual benefit gala on March 20 at 19:00: virtuelle Benefiz-Gala. With this exciting dance evening, featuring performances of artists from around the world, awareness will be raised for the current situation regarding dancers and dance studios. It is part of #KeepBaselMoving.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Tanzmehr Bühne mit*ein*anderes Tanzfestival 2021 – Einladung zur Bewerbung! Submissions till March 1.
 

Open call für queer dance pieces for Lila.21 Queerfestivals, Submissions till March 15, 2021 to arlette@milchjugend.ch.
 

Pro Helvetia supports residencies and research trips of artists and creatives from Switzerland in the countries of the 6 corresponding offices, as well as in further select regions. Submissions must be in by March 10.

The Marianne Forster Memorial Tanzförderverein will be taking sumissions for scholarships again until June 11, 2021: Stipendiumsbewerbungen. The association promotes young, talented women and men who take classes in modern/ or contemporary dance, who are between the ages of 15 and 21 and live in the tri-national region in and around Basel.

 

m2act: Call for proposals – Project ideas for a fair, diverse and sustainable practice in the performing arts are called for. Your proposals must be submitted by March 18, 2021.

RIDCC is a platform for emerging choreorgraphers. Please submit proposals for duets by March 12.

The Jugendkulturfestival Basel (JKF) (Youth cultural festival) will take place on September 3 and 4. Artists can sign up now for an appearance at JKF 2021 with their projects at: jkf.ch.

The next submission deadline for cultural mediation and impulse projects: Kulturvermittlungs- und Impulsprojekte is on March 20. Those who are eligible to apply include cultural institutions in the canton of Basel-Stadt and professional creators from all fields, with an impulse/ cultural mediation project directed towards people in the city of Basel.

 

SUPPORT

The «Basler Modell» Basel model offers temporary financial support for creatives in the Corona crisis. During the period of November 2020 to April 2021, only applications submitted according to the «Basler Modell» in Basel-Stadt will be accepted for that period of six months. Further information: kultur.bs.ch/kulturschaffende.

The Taskforce Culture has put together hier: (here) an overview of the measures for cushioning the economic fallout of Covid-19 in the cultural sector.

With the Nothilfefonds (emergency aid fund) of SWISSPERFORM distributed by the Schweizerische Interpretenstiftung (SIS), performers receive aid which is subsidiary to aid provided by the central government.

Ausfallentschädigungen Kulturunternehmen Basel-Stadt: Basel-Stadt applications for financial loss during the time period between January 1 and April 30 must be submitted by May 31 at the latest. The loss compensation will be aligned with and supplement other forms compensation.

Dear members, dance artists und those interested in the scene,

Here's our TANZnews for February:

 

The first Triangle Meeting, our exchange program between the dance scene of the Basel region, Freiburg/D and Strasbourg will take place on March 23.-27., 2021. If the meeting is not able to take place at Roxy due to the pandemic, there will be an alternative program on Zoom. Without having to commit, you can already register to join if you like at: labormanifest12@gmail.com.

 

The Bureau Ouvert, our advisory platform for questions surrounding production, will again take place in February with changing production managers. The offer is free for Tanzbüro members. Registration is required: info@tanzbuero-basel.ch.

 

The contemporary in-studio Profitraining classes will be suspended until the end of February. The Monday class will be streamed over Zoom. Ballet classes will continue to take place in the studio, with a maximum of 5 participants. Advance reservation is required: Voranmeldung. These lessons will be shared via Zoom.

 

Dare & Share, our work in progress format with feedback, is also planned for the spring. The dates are: April 17 und June 12. For registration and further information, please contact Patricia Rotondaro.

 

If you are interested in making use of the rehearsal space Proberaum Yoda, which is located behind the Swiss/German train station (Badischer Bahnhof), there are special conditions for Tanzbüro members: From February, the space is available for one or several days.

For the forthcoming Wildwuchs-Festival from May 27 till June 6, the festival is launching a request for proposals: Ausschreibung for solo performances. Closing date for applications is January 31, 2021.

For the new multidisciplinary production TANZHALLE REITPALAST, Lilian Stillwell is seeking experienced dancers with strong techniques, acting talent and the desire to work interdisciplinarily.

 

Cie Nicolas Turicchia is looking for 5 dancers for his piece “A la Dérive”. Applications will be accepted until till Februar 7.

 

Dr. Artium in den Darstellenden Künsten, Musik und Film is an artistic and scientific Doctoral Program which will begin in Oktober 2021. Closing date for applications is Februar 28, 2021.

 

Pro Helvetia supports residencies and research trips for those from Switzerland who are involved in fields of-and-relating to the arts (e.g. artists, curators, organizers and promoters, agents) in the countries of the 6 connecting offices, as well as other chosen regions. Apply until March 10, 2021.

 

Tanzmehr Bühne mit*ein*anderes Tanzfestival 2021 – Einladung zur Bewerbung! Professional choreographers and group leaders can apply with groups consisting of amateur dancers with or without physical or mental disabilities of any age, sex or nationality. Apply by March 1, 2021. 

 

SUPPORT

Businesses that operate establishments can immediately request hardship assistance. Fitnessstudios, studios for dance and other movement, climbing gyms and the like are included. Help is there – but where can I find it? The Taskforce Culture has put together (here): here an overview of the measures for cushioning the economic impacts of Covid-19 on the culture sector.

 

With the Emergency Help Fund: Nothilfefonds of SWISSPERFORM, distributed by Schweizerische Interpretenstiftung (SIS), peformers can get compensation subsidary to federal aid.

 

The Basel culture department Kulturabteilung Basel-Stadt is accepting applications for compensation of absence from cultural enterprises. Absences from December 1 until  31. Dezember 2020 can be  submitted until Januar 31, 2021.
